Top Natural Beauty Products

If you’ve read my story before, you know that I started to take holistic health very seriously after my mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. I’ve spent the 6 years since doing research on everything from eco-friendly products and organic foods to chakras and energy healing.

I firmly believe that the products and toxins we are exposed to everyday will show their affects in our bodies maybe decades down the road. It’s incredibly saddening and scary to think that we may be poisoning ourselves and not even realize it. In my mother’s case, using talcum powder during adolescence caused ovarian cancer 4 decades later.

Studies estimate that the average woman puts 515 synthetic chemicals on her body every single day without knowing. How freakin’ scary is that?! What I found even scarier is that some of these self-touted “organic” and “natural” beauty products you can find out there are anything but. Without strict FDA regulations, many companies can label their products as organic and natural, and still contain many chemicals and non-organic ingredients.

For me, I wanted to stop relying so heavily on pharmaceuticals and over-the-counter products to deal with things from acne and headaches to anxiety and stress. And essential oils were one of the holistic modalities that caught my interest.

I’ve had the opportunity try out a few beauty product MUST HAVES, and I wanted to share them with all of you!

Great Lakes Gelatin

Collagen is one of the “hot” health products out there right now. I have clients asking me all the time about what collagen is taken for, what brands they should check out, etc. One of my favorite things about collagen is that it’s tasteless. Every morning, I add two tablespoons of Great Lakes collagen to my coffee and viola! It dissolves perfectly in hot liquid, is super easy to blend into smoothies and is quite versatile. You can even cook with it!

Collagen is great for so many things, but a few of my favorites benefits are:

  • Hormone balancing
  • Joint care
  • Stronger skin, hair and nails
  • Anti-aging and skin elasticity
  • Better digestion and repair of leaky gut
  • Promotes a more restful sleep.

Since taking it regularly, I’ve absolutely seen an improvement in my sleep (I don’t wake up/toss and turn throughout the night as much as I used to, the strength of my nails has definitely increased and someone even said recently that my skin is glowing! I’ll take it!

If you’re interested in giving this collagen a try, use code GLGLife20 for 20% off your order! Code is good until March 15, 2018.

Bali Secrets Natural Deodorant

I feel like I have tried every natural deodorant under the sun. The second I’d sweat, I’d reek of BO immediately. It was important to me to get away from using antiperspirants that have aluminum in them due to the grave safety concerns – the biggest one being breast cancer.

According to WebMD, “most breast cancers develop in the upper outer part of the breast — the area closest to the armpit, which is where antiperspirants are applied. The studies suggest that chemicals in antiperspirants, including aluminum, are absorbed into the skin, particularly when the skin is nicked during shaving. These studies claim that those chemicals may then interact with DNA and lead to cancerous changes in cells, or interfere with the action of the female hormone estrogen, which is known to influence the growth of breast cancer cells.”

I did a lot of research on reviews, and people were raving about this Bali Secrets deodorant. What I really liked about it that it’s vegan and gluten-free, and all ingredients are rated safe by The rose scent in particular combines seaweed extract, mineral salt and rose essential oil.

This deodorant WORKS. Hands down, the best natural deodorant I’ve found. I’ve never smelled, even if I sweat a little bit. I’ve been recommending it to anyone and everyone.

Essential Oils

I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention essential oils, because #duh. Beyond using the doTERRA natural toothpaste and toner, I like to mix certain essential oils with a carrier oil, like fractionated coconut oil, and use as part of my daily skin routine. I’ve listed below a few of my favorite essential oils I use day-to-day, but I’ve started using tea tree and copaiba a lot recently, too, and definitely recommend them for your skin!

Pacifica Face Masks

I just discovered these at Target and to say I stocked up is an understatement. Target has actually been selling a lot more cruelty-free, vegan beauty products and I’m loving it! Pacifica has a ton of different products, including face washes, make-up, underarm wipes, cleansing wipes and tonics, body butter and even nail polishes.

I’m using them a few times a week and just the SMELL of them is relaxing 🙂

What I also just LOVE about this brand is they have a recycling program! They send you a pre-paid shipping label to send back empty and cleaned out Pacifica product bottles to be “reincarnated” for more use!

As I use more and more natural beauty products, I’ll be sure to share my reviews here 🙂 People are more and more interested in how to remove toxins and hidden chemicals from the products they use daily. People have a RIGHT to know what it is they are putting on and in their bodies. So I’m happy to share any and all information I find on the topic so that you can feel educated and in control of your health.

  1. What a great list of products – I’ve tried using natural deodorants but have never found one that truly worked for me (maybe I’m too stinky??) 🙂
